Area: The Veneto region is located in the northeast of Italy, along the Adriatic Sea. Although most travellers head straight to its capital, Venice, the region also contains other popular tourist destinations, such as Verona, Padua, Vicenza, Lake Garda and the ski resort of Cortina.

For much of its history, the Veneto was dominated by the rich and powerful Venetian Republic, their emblem, the winged lion of St. Mark, still prominent in the region. The wealth of the region gave rise to artisans and factories both inland and on the lagoon islands, like the Murano and Burano islands, famed for their glasswork and needlepoint products.

Wines: The Veneto region is among the foremost wine-producing regions, producing over 20 DOC zones. Three of its best known and appreciated wines are Bardolino, Valpolicella and Soave. Winemaking in the Veneto is of great importance, starting with the creation in 1885 of the very first Italian school for vine growing and oenology, and the nation's most important wine fair, Vinitaly, takes place each spring in Verona. It was also the first region to create a strada del vino or "wine road," featuring special road signs that give information on vines and the wines.

Our guide will pick you up and drive you to the chosen wine estates, discussing the area and points of interest along the way. Once at the wine estates, you will have a guided tour of the property and a wine tasting.

Full day tours are available Monday through Saturday.
